    Draft 2041

    * Round 1 Pick 28, ILB Lionel Webster (Rice)

    After an excellent season with the Rice Owls, this big Middle Linebacker was tagged as a low 1st Round project. But coming from a low-power-division from the NCAA is not a good point in your scout card. Anyway, he shined in the combine at Indianapolis in his all-around bars makes him an interesting pick in a great Linebacker group at San Diego, after this pick we could move any of our great backers to the Sam position replacing the last 1st Round pick of the old manager in San Diego who disapointed since Sharkn20 took the control of the franchise.

      Season 2041 Starters

      Another season, another chapter!!

      After a quiet Off-season and a mediocre Draft the Chargers will try to use their Cohesion to validate the AFC West tittle scored last year.

      New Starters Faces

      Right Defensive End --> Rookie, Cristian Harrow, 3rd Round Pick, Florida State

      Clemson-Florida-St-Foot-2-.jpg

      After beating J.T. Pereira during the Trainning Camp and showing some promise in pre-season action his powerfull run-stopping game convinced the Staff to give him the opportunity to shine since his rookie year in the middle of the 3-4 Scheme.

      Strong Linebacker --> Rookie, Lionel Webster, 1st Round Pick, Rice

      Posted above Webster played a nice pre-season and earned the SLB position to solidify the Strong Side of the line of Scrimmage and play against the opposite Tight Ends in man or zone coverage, his superior pass skills will give him the chance to play also in Nickel Formation alongside with the captain Allen. Surprising move who put former 1st Round Pick Walter Johnstone out of the starting group anyway.

      Pass Rush Defensive End --> Rookie, Howie Ragone, Undrafted, Greensboro

      32563680E.jpg

      Coming from a small college which plays in the unkown USA South Conference, Ragone was signed for the Trainning Camp due his great combines and explosiveness, in the 60 man Roster he was send to the practice squad and after the first week of pre-season his powerfull pass rush hability combined with his above average pass rush technique will give him an opportunity in Dime situations to show what he has inside and if he worths a FFL-Play-off-Roster-Spot.

      Starting Line-up

      QB --> Ryan Mallett
      RB --> Rick Carr
      FB --> Jonah Burnett
      TE --> Darrell Frederick
      WR -> Rylan Gaines
      WR -> Richard Melsha
      LT --> Lane Johnson
      LG --> Louie Warwick
      C ---> Rondell Hernandez
      RG --> Broderick Adderley
      RT --> Jayce Hayes

      LE --> Glen Anzivino
      NT --> Timmy Jernigan
      RE --> Cristian Harrow
      SLB -> Lionel Webster
      MLB > Jerry Allen
      MLB > Ralph Conner
      WLB> Jake Cowley
      CB --> Darnell Rockne
      CB --> Kenyon Hicks
      SS --> Gabin Barlow
      FS --> Calvin Pryor

              2038 Draft Review

              2038 Draft Review

              When the wave of Rookies 4 years ago entering in his last year of contract is time to analize the stats, the tape, and the impact that our Drafted Rookies of 2038 have in San Diego and how it affects to their status.

              Round 1 Pick 4 --> WR Rylan Gaines. Graduation = A

              After 42 starts Gaines changed the aerial attack in San Diego, he is not posting amazing numbers but usually is double covered during the games creating isolation match-ups for Melsha and Frederick. However his 12.49 Yards per catch and 7.67 Yards per target combined with his 61.4% grabbed throws and 39 catches for more than 20 Yards confirmed that he is very good.

              Round 2 Pick 3 --> OT Jayce Gayes. Graduation = B+

              We entered in this Draft with a Tackle position need to solidify the perimeter, Hayes is rated as a good Road Blocker with average pass block, strength and Endurance, however his numbers are improving steadly game after game in Pass protection and his 38.2% executed blocks for our backfield makes San Diego one of the best running teams in the league since he arrived.

              Round 2 Pick 19 --> OT Drake Buckner. Graduation = F

              He is not actually in the league was released during the pre-season in 2040, retired during the beggining of 2041.

              Round 2 Pick 32 --> QB Amos Sharpton. Graduation = E

              He is playing in Buffalo as a back-up or clip-board holder of E.J. Manuel, his amazing Volatility option kept him in the league, is a once promising QB with good ball protection hability and the Staff in Buffalo are considering to keep him as a future franchise QB if his volatility works as expects.

              Round 3 Pick 9 --> MLB Ralph Conner. Graduation = B+

              Nice steal for San Diego despite his volatility drown last year, Conner is a really nice 3-4 WILB who complements perfect our star captain Allen, he is playing as a starter in base formations since was drafted and his 11.6 TkPct and 76.3 PDPct is one the best between the WILBs of the league.

              Round 3 Pick 17 --> MLB Wyatt Green. Graduation = F

              After a disappointing 2 years and as a 4th MLB in the depth Chart, he was released two years ago during the 53-man cut of 2039.

              Round 4 Pick 12 --> SS Bryce Travis. Graduation = B-

              Despite loosing his job last year with Calvin Pryor, Travis is a very good back-up quality player who can play starter and do his job. His overall 78.9 PDPct, 13.3 TkPct, 3 Sacks and his Very High volatility status will give him a year extension here in San Diego. However he is in the trading block due his value.

              Round 6 Pick 2 --> FS Bryson Johnson. Graduation = E

              He never dressed up as a Charger in an official game and was released during the 53 man cut in his Rookie season.

              Round 6 Pick 14 --> DE J.T. Pereira. Graduation = B+

              Nothing bad for a 6th Round Pick, despite loosing his job this year after two catastrophic camps, he was a starter in 2039 and 2040, he is in his 47th game with San Diego and his 10 Sack and 6.6 TkPct stablished himself as a decent back-up option at the moment.

              Round 7 Pick 4 --> DT Benjamin Dollilole. Graduation = E

              As Johnson he never dressed up as a Charger in an official game and was released in the 53-man cut of his rookie season.

              At the end this was an "A-" graduation Draft for San Diego, with 5 starters during the first 3 years and now 3 starters and 2 quaility back-ups.

                DE Undrafted Howie Ragone

                Undrafted Defensive End Howie Ragone collects his 4th Sack of the season.

                UTI1797278_t730.JPG?b0f0cf804b45a2830ba759010b8a41b9b1684c1a.jpg

                Coming out of a small school in Greensoboro, Ragone was a combine-warrior in Indianapolis enough to earn a roster spot in the Trainning Camp in San Diego, after he was released to make space for the 60 man Roster of the 1st Pre-season game, after the real evolutions of the players he was signed again and during the pre-season he played really well, then Sharkn20 decided to keep him around as a Pass rush specialist. And the result is really exciting, Howie was mentioned 2 times for the Player of the Week during the first 4 games in San Diego, his stats, 7 Tackles 4 Sacks 2 Passes Defended 3 Hurries and 1 QB hit for a 8.5 PRPct and 6.7 TkPct. Without a doubt a great start for a promising career, we will up-date his status soon again.

                  2042 Off-season in San Diego

                  Retirement

                  After loosing positional leader in the Backfield Ross Kestner, Rick Carr suprised everybody quitting himself from the rebuilding process in San Diego which left the Chargers very thin at the Running Back position with a play-off ready team despite we are looking to get the ready younger.

                  Staff Draft

                  After finished ranked 29th in total D# in the FFL the Chargers fired Defensive Coordinator Norman Seebaldt and hired Brandon Mebane a DBs Specialist which have 4 Years of Experience, he is a Máster in Scouting and an Average Interviewer and developer, he is not too good in Play-Calling but we have to look in other direction after the last year and he was the best available.

                  Key Re-Signings

                  7562860.jpg

                  OT Jayce Hayes was franchised and extended for 4 more years, he is our starter RT and delivere 19 KRB and 1 Pancake the last two years, openning lanes for Carr

                  QB Louis Gillespie
                  RB Rondell Denman
                  TE Jerome Mueller
                  C Dusty Morris
                  OG Avery Norried
                  DE Howie Ragone
                  CB Kenyon Hicks
                  CB Bobby Money

                  All of them performed well the last season and deserved another year of TC and pre-season action here in San Diego. Specially youngster Kenyon Hicks at CB, one of the better players in Defense the last year. Also Howie Ragone started the season on-fire collecting 6.5 Sacks but his production dropped at the end of the season like all the Chargers D#.

                  P Jeff Siddiqui

                  Departures

                  They are the casualties of a bad season in San Diego.

                  OT Wes Grimes
                  WR Adam Hill
                  DE J.T. Pereira
                  DT Kayden Salvatori
                  OLB Tom Bates
                  CB Lewis Walters

                  Free Agency

                  RavenSacked-300x247.jpg

                  OLB Jon Welch ($40.000.000 per 2 Years, $15M Guaranteed)

                  After finished 29th In Pass Rush Percentage and playing in a high-profile-QBs-division we must have a rusher who can create chaos in the back-field and rush the QBs, Welch is an Excellent and polished Speed and Bull rusher who can use all the techniques to generate Sacks, since he entered in the league 5 Years ago he played all the games for the Patriots during the regular season (80) and Play-offs (7) Including a FFL Ring in his Rookie season, his 80.5 Sacks during his career and 15 Forced Fumbles are enough to make this kind of pushing for him, he will change Chargers D#.

                  DE Alvin Rivers ($11.000.000 per 2 Years, $4M Guaranteed)

                  rams-browns-football_lanc_c0-297-1926-1419_s561x327.jpg

                  Rivers was coveted for many teams due his excellent run D, play diagnosis and delivering hits all over the backfield, his first step and agility to collapse the running lanes are amazing he collected 90 tackles so far during his 3 first years in Cleveland after being selected in the 2nd Round by the Browns in 2038 but the veteran doesn´t fit properly in the 4-3 scheme. Finally we got his services using the cap-room that we have and this is an excellent opportunity to him to shine as a starter again.

                  Trades

                  SLB Walter Johnstone traded to Seattle in an exchange of a 4th Round Choice in 2043

                  We are young and well stocked at LB and we need extra picks during this re-building process and Johnstone wanted to be a starter anywhere else, besides Seattle is setting a SuperBowl team and will give him the required playing time.

                  RB Donnie Johnson traded from Seattle in exchange of a 3rd Round Pick in 2042, receiving also a 5h Round Pick in 2043

                  0b798247af508ada729b6304c2d06ddd.jpg

                  After the retirement of Derek Carr and the lack of hability from our Scouts to determine if the Running Backs in this Draft worth a 1.13 Pick we decided to add a veteran Running-Back from Seattle. Drafted as a 1st Round Pick for the Bears in 2038 out of Louisiana-Monroe Red-Zone decided to trade for him in 2040 expecting to have a workhorse to carry the rock but he was unable to carry the ball for over an average of 3.58 in Seattle. With some fumble issues Johnson has the potential to be a game-changer behind a good offensive line, he has a great instinct to feel when the hole will be opened and could hit hard in the middle to transform short distance downs in big-gains, he is also a threat out of the backfield and a Máster Kick Returner.

                    2042 Draft

                    * Round 1 Pick 13 --> CB Howie Blake (Auburn)

                    1qA2mn.AuSt.70.jpg

                    After years lacking a playmaker in the perimeter San Diego finally selects a nice prospect CB coming out of the powerfull SEC. He is tall, heavy, can match 1on1 with mostly of the WRs in the FFL and is listed as a Very Underrated by our Scouts. Blake´s Agility combine show that he can change direction with only one step and support hard the run inmediatly. He could be the reason to believe again in the Defense of the Chargers with his high development would be a starter since the first week.

                    Round 2 Pick 18 --> RB Calvin Franklin (Florida State)

                    12200176.jpg

                    Smart, fast, agile, good out of the backfield, Franklin is an all-purpouse RB who can play every down and special teams, hi fell until the medium-bottom of the 2nd Round due his short height and Weight but with a hard trainning during the TC Calvin would be the perfect complement for Johnson who was just traded from Seattle! Excited about his "Darren Sproles" type of hability out of the Backfield his short Height would contribute to hide him behind the blockers until hit the hole at full steam!
