  • 2037 NFC North Season Preview

    NFC North

    2036 Standings
    Chicago 12-4
    Detroit 11-5
    Minnesota 8-8
    Green Bay 8-8

    Chicago Bears
    Offense:
The defending NFC North champs offense ranked 5th in rushing and 18th in the passing game. Led by RB Walker who has had 1200+ yds in his first 3 yrs in the FFL. Add a freshly signed $40.41M contract and his life is good. TE Lingen and WR Plumier led the receiving corp. The Bears offensive line is stout. C Goodwin, G's Maloney - Franklin and T's Farrell - recently signed FA Smith are as tough as they come.
    Defense:
The Bears led the FFL in rush defense and in contrast was 2nd to the last in pass defense. DE Meusey(12.5 sacks) leads the D along with LB Mahoney(11.5 sacks). If they can get a grip on the pass defense game they could take the NFC title. If not....well they could end up missing the playoffs all together. With Detroit hot on their heals the Bears repeat as NFC North champs.

    Detroit Lions
    Offense:
QB Brewer and WR Schrader are the 1-2 punch for the Lions. Brewer is coming to his own and has a chance to be an elite QB in the FFL. If he keeps progressing and if Schrader can stay on top of his game along with stud 2nd year RB Bell, they could challenge for the NFC conference title for the next few years. The offensive line is young and strong with an ole vet T Koepke guiding the young guns. A very good overall offense.
    Defense:
The Lions defense is suspect. They struggled stopping the run and the pass. But turnovers carried em in 2036 with a +18 to lead the league. But relying on TO's can be a slippery slope. DE Ebbitt, LB Lavonte(11 sacks in 36), and DB Delgado are the main cogs in Detroit's defense. DB May had a good season last year and can help play centerfield at the safety position.
    Overview:
Detroit is strong and have some good pieces. Their defense is gonna need to step it up for the Lions to take that next step. And thats to take control of the NFC North then on to the conference title.

    Minnesota Vikings
    Offense:
The will go into the season on Jay Locker's Shoulders. The 2036 league MVP will need the hands of WR Trevor Simms and the legs of RB Butch Medsker to push towards the playoffs. Promising rookie RB Steve Meier was drafted in the first round to help add a 1-2 punch in the Vikings backfield.
The O-line of course is the bread n butter of the offense. As Locker and company gain the spot light, the center pieces of the powerhouse offense remains in the shadows just doing their jobs. And C Pouncey, G's Price - Boyer and T's Higdon - Ashe wouldn't have it any other way.
    Defense:
On the defensive side of the ball, the Vikings struggle against the run. With Daniels anchoring the D line, they look to improve on their 29th rated run defense from last year. Rookie MLB Finch and free agent safeties Johnson and Herr hope to shore up the pass defense which was a ranked a pretty good 11th.
    Overview:
With their high powered and balanced offense the AI'd Vikings have to make a push to the playoffs as their franchise player's career is winding down. Their rush defense is a liability but their offense has the capability to control both the scoreboard and the clock.

    Green Bay Packers
    Offense:
Led by QB McIntyre and RB Lelie the Packers offense ranked 22nd in rushing and 12th in passing offense. Their offense is often hit n miss. Lelie shows signs of being a great back but needs some consistency. Their offensive line is very good. McIntyre spreads the ball around well and the offense has the potential to break out. But will they every week?
    Defense:
With the Packers ranking 18th in rush defense and 26th in pass defense, they have work to do on this side of the ball. The defensive line is not as bad as their rank shows. Their LB's are the week link in run defense. Young SS looks to be a bright ray of light for Green Bay. DB Springer has been solid for a few years and if rookie 4th round pick DB Slocum and 3rd round pick LB Sotiroff can develop like the Packers hoped, maybe this defense can turn around.
    Overview:
The Pack will need to strengthen up their defense to make it to the playoffs in 2037. Although their offense can carry them from time to time they're gonna need some help from the defense to win enough games to make it to the dance.

    2037 Prediction
    Chicago 11-5 (wins tie breaker)
    Detroit 11-5
    Minnesota 10-6
    Green Bay 7-9
