  • Record Paces

With half the season in the books, I thought it might be interesting to check out players and teams that are on pace to set single-season records.

    300-yard passing games
Current record: 9 (Patrick Moore, PIT, 2012)
Potential threat: Reigning MVP Matt Leinart (SF) is on pace for 10 after logging five in his first eight games.

    Yards per carry
Current record: 5.70 (Jerald Jenkins, SEA, 2020)
Potential threat: Detroit's Andre Brown is averaging 6.42 ypc over only 69 carries. Buffalo's Gabe Blasingame is also on pace to top the mark with a 5.82 yard average.

    100-yard rushing games
Current record: 12 (Ralph Strong, PIT, 2013 and Arnie Hollerorth, MIA, 2019)
Potential threat: Philadelphia rookie Todd McQuistan is on pace for 12 this season, which would tie the record.

    Drops
Current record: 15 (Roscoe Parrish, DAL, 2011)
Potential threat: We will probably have a new drops king, much to the relief of Parrish. The most likely candidates right now are Carolina rookie Neil Walton (on pace for 21) and Houston's Russell Lucas, who isn't even a starter but is on pace for 20.

    Interceptions
Current record: 10 (Five players, most recently R.J. Terry, ARI, 2020)
Potential threat: Pittsburgh cornerback Pete Wyoming is on pace for 10 picks this season.

    Pass defense percentage
Current record: 91.8 (Deon Grant, JAX, 2012)
Potential threat: Several players are on pace to break this record. Once some of the guys with little playing time are eventually dropped from the qualifiers, the most likely seem to be Houston's Tyrell Johnson (94.5) and New England's Malcolm Hardy (94.3).

    Sacks
Current record: 21.0 (Teddy Flannery, HOU, 21.0, 2018)
Potential threat: Chicago's Zachary Kenyon is on pace for a remarkable 28 sacks. He would need just under a sack a game to tie the record.

    Hurries
Current record: 40 (David Vance, PIT, 2015)
Potential threat: Minnesota's Harvey Emmons is on pace for exactly 40 hurries.

    Field Goals
Current record: 40 (Emmanuel Hall, NYG, 2011)
Potential threat: Washington's Seth Kragen is on pace for 44 field goals and Pittsburgh's Ryan Succop is on pace to tie the record.

    TEAM
    Points allowed
Current record: 11.3 (St. Louis, 2007)
    Potential threat: New England (10.9)

    Rushing Yards
Current record: 176.6 (Los Angeles, 2012)
    Potential threat: Philadelphia (177.6)

    Rushing yards allowed
    Current record: 80.0 (Chicago, 2019)
    Potential threat: Minnesota (77.4)

    Total yards allowed
    Current record: 270.9 (Miami, 2008)
Potential threats: New England (261.9), Cincinnati (264.0), Dallas (268.1)

      nice write-up

Moore, Strong, and Vance have been my 3 favorite players out of all the leagues I've been in, so hopefully they can continue to hold those records for at least another season
      AFC NORTH CHAMPS: 2006, 2007, 2008, 2012, 2013, 2016
      AFC CHAMPS: 2007, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2016
FRANCHISE BOWL CHAMPS in 2011 and 2016
