    2013 Preview

OH WHEN THE SAAAAINTS... COME MARCHING INNN.. OH WHEN THE SAINTS COME MARCH...Um I mean... OH WHEN THE KNIIIGHTS... COME MARCHING INNN... OH WHEN THE KNIGHTS COME MARCHING IN...OH HOW I WISSSSH... THERE COULD BE A NAAAME. COULD BE A NAME FOR THIS LLLLLLL AAAAA TEEEEEAM....

The 2013 LA Saints are rumored to have their nickname changed to the Knights. GM-Yoda has a roster of 48 players under contract with 1.42 Mil. available cap space...

The 2012 Saints finished the year 9-7 made the WC but fell to the Giants 27-21. The Saints are coming out of a VERY TOUGH NC South just a couple years ago where 10-6 was sported by 3 teams Saints winning division due to a 5-1 division record one better then Panthers.

In the offseason GM-Yoda has added 16 new faces to the 2013 roster..
FA's C-Tracy Wilmoth a 2nd year player that played with the Cardinals last season starting in 6 games for them he allowed 3 sacks.. Should get the starting job ahead of Rookie FA's Howard Clark and Shane Wilcox.

S-Reed Doughty 5 year player played in 14 games with the Rams in 2 seasons.

CB-Craig Gordon a 10 year vet has 96 career starts has 3 INTs Played with Oak,Ind,Buf,Car,SF. Gordon is making a switch from (S) to RCB with plenty of potential to play the nickelback...

DT-Dwayne Robertson 11 vet played 8- 1/2 season with the Cowboys starting in 114 games 315 tackles and recored 20.5 sacks. Will most likely finish his career has the backup but could start until Christian Vlasak comes off 4 weeks with a hyperextended elbow.

    LB-Tracy White a 11 vet who started 129 games 708 tackles and 27 sacks
with Cincinnati Bengals "MoneyBags" is seeing his career as a backup beginning in LA well maybe not for a couple more weeks as Andra Davis recovers from a broken toe.

WR- Jerome Muka an 8 year vet playing 7 season with the Philadelphia Eagles not main man in Philly but did start 39 games caught 203 passes for 3002 yards and 14 TD. you might find him running a reverse or two now and again. Looks like he'll be a nice number 3 WR in LA... Would be a for sure #1 for some teams...

P-Dave Zastudil a 12 year vet from Minnestoa. has alot of leg left him 44.7 yards for his career has 240 inside the 20 and 68
    is his longest punt.

The Saints drafted WR-Carl Abney 3.3 This kid has alot of potential but will have to earn his time behind some pretty WR ahead of him... Looks like he will be the 5th WR but might be suprised to see him 4th or 3rd.

DE-Deon Gillspie 3.22 with alot of DLmen taken before him Gillspie was probably a reach pick that doesn't look like he'll break the starting lineup..

QB-Anthony Prescott 5.21 just a backup kick holding could be in his future someday.

RB-BlaineSlagle 5.22 no chance for this late rounder playin behind Adrian Peterson...Might see him in an emerency or to give Adrian a rest a play or two...

CB-Skip Gordon 6.23 and Ronald Jacobs 7.22 could get some time at DimeBack.Skip should get some playing time as aspecial teamer on KOR...

The Saints most likely will finish in 3rd maybe even last in the NCSouth Atlanta made some big moves to improve their team and The Panthers are defending WORLD CHAMPS... It's a tough place to be for the Saints or do I say KNIGHTS....

Good Luck Yoda hope I did OK

        2016 Preview

It seems that the rich seems to get richer. Rookie TE Scottie Roberson looks like a do it all players. It appears this guy has no weakness. There is talk that this offense might have more weapon then last years team. The biggest question will be the offensive line. If these guys can give QB Joel Tapscott some time to throw and Adrian Peterson some holes they might represent the NC again this year. The defense is as good as last season. If you had to pick a weak area I would say the secondary could be a little better.

2017 Preview (as written by zbuckley)

The Saints will rely on franchise QB Joel Tapscott and their offense this season as it may be their final chance at a title. This team is in desperate need of young talent and a full blown rebuilding process seems likely in the near future. With no draft picks and no real FA to speak of this is really just last seasons roster just one season older.

The past 4 seasons the Saints have average 13 regular season wins and won the Franchise Football prior to this season 3 straight years. Last year The Saints exited the playoffs in the divisional round with a tough lost to Chicago. This season the goal remains the same and the roster still has enough talent to win it all.

          Players to Watch:

Scottie Robinson should see a much larger role this season after his low key rookie season. While AP is the center piece of the offense Robinson has great potential as a receiver and should see plenty of opportunities.

Christian Stargell has never totalled double digit sacks in a season but I think this is the year he breaks through. As long as The Saints offense is running up the score board teams will be force to air it out and Stargell is at his best rushing the passer.

          Season Out Look:

The Saints have very little depth and staying injury free is a must. The NFC south looks to be very competitive this season but expect another divisional title for the saints with the offensive combo of QB Tapscott and RB AP.

          What might go wrong:

With very little talent in the secondary and so much of the teams success rely on Tapscott and AP. Last year the Saints really struggled with there pass defense ranking second to last and if their offense doesn't bail them out it could be a long season for the Saints.

            2024 Season Preview
            (as written by radfords)

Its been a long time since the Saints had a winning season and the fans are entitled to expect the
recent run of high draft picks to come through. There is real talent on the roster and the front office
showed determination to succeed by shaking up the staff with the arrival of a new offensive coordinator
to support high disciplinarian HC J J Jones in his second season in LA. Jones will be
looking for more from his raw but talented team this season.

Off season was quiet especially for the hyperactive Saints but Alonzo Godfrey was signed to a big
money deal after some haggling with the tag. An improvement in the passing game is a key need
and the loss of Godfrey would have been a real problem. Defensively LA were solid against the run
but terrible against the pass and this all added up to a 4-12 record.

            Draft
After last year's excess the Saints had just three picks in this year's draft. However they had the 4th
overall pick and used this on CB Darryl Dole a fast, strong and agile addition that will improve the
secondary and address the major defensive weakness. There is a question mark on Dole's attitude
but if he has overcome previous inconsistency then he may well justify getting the nod ahead of
WR Dominic Radlick who may just have been the guy to make Tebow happy. As it was Tebow had
to wait until the 7th round to see a new target man in Ronnie Daniel but he looks a long shot to make
the roster. The Saints also picked up TE Steven Donovan in the 6th but he may only ever be a useful
blocker if he gets a spot on the roster.

            Offence
The passing offence in 2023 was just plain awful and Tim Tebow regressed in his second year.
Quite what he feels about the Saints signing two experienced quarterbacks in FA is anyone's guess
but happiness is unlikely to feature. In interviews both Brennan Colt and Henry Nowlin made it
plain they were here to compete for the starting slot and not as tutors. You can see why they were
signed as they were cheap and represent solid backups but Jones need to reassure the team that
Tebow is still his man. The turmoil in the passing game is illustrated by 10 receivers being on the
preseason roster. The problem is that the Saints don't have a reliable set of hands amongst them. Big
money man Godfrey and vet Peterson drop way too many balls and the promising second year 1st
round pick Buddy Price was no better with 10 drops in his rookie year. On the ground there is a
solid game which can relieve the pressure on the pass attack. Neal Downs has the ability to be one
of the league's premier runners and fully justified his draft position in his rookie year. In fact he and
vet TE Scottie Roberson may be the best targets for Tebow on the roster. The OL is anchored in the
middle with vet C Maurice Hammond and two bookend tackles in Barry Jefferson and Marco
Oliver. There is a wealth of young talent to supplement these stand out players and this OL could
            develop into an awesome unit.

            Defence
The Saints were terrible against the pass last year. If fingers are pointed at the pass rush then that
would be on the money. Defensive leader Peria Jerry showed the way but a young group of players
have to step up to make anyone wary of the Saints pass rush. Behind the DL is Todd Asomugah and
not much else – opposing quarterbacks just have too much tome to pick the secondary apart. Darryl
Dole is a player but he is surrounded by journeymen and will have to do it on his own.

            Outlook
The Saints have a phenomenal number of picks coming into their second year and how this class
does drives the team. There are outstanding players on the roster but the prospects of real
improvement are handicapped by continuing worries with the passing game both offensively and
defensively. These weaknesses haven't been addressed and another losing season looms for the
            Saints in 2024.
