    The History

The Bears are some people’s idea of the Franchise Bowl winner this year, why you may ask after they have not had a winning season in 5 years, well they have a reasonable easy schedule and the NFC North does not look the strongest Division this year. They have never won more than 9 games in a season, but this year I think you will see them have at least the magical number of 10 in the win column next to there name.

    Quarterback

4th year Quarterback Lenny Wiggins needs to start to prove that he is the man to take this Franchise forward after 2 poor seasons, he has all the skills necessary to become a legend in Chicago and I think you can put money on this season being his break out year.

    Half Back

Kenny Irons looks the probable starter for the Bears although with Kendrick Boyer also on the roster the Bears may well choose to share the load between the pair of them. The Bears where 2nd last year in rushing yards with 2249 and with these two in the backfield a repeat performance is likely.

    Full Back

The Bears have 2 of the best Full backs in the League in Fred Cooper and Brian Leonard, both would be starters on just about any other team. Again like the Half Backs these 2 guys may share the load, whatever is decided there is going to be some great Fullback play in Chicago this year.

    Tight End

Zach Miller will start and it seems likely he will be used mainly in a blocking role. The 3rd year man has had just 30 catches in his 1st two years but seems capable of more.

    Wide Receiver

Larry Fitzgerald is the one Receiver on the Roster who has class, 670 catches in 9 years says just that. The Bears will struggle though to find some one to partner him and also lack any depth at this position. With that in mind expect to see Fitzgerald double teamed time and time again especially in certain passing plays.

    The Offensive Line

The line just oozes class in every position, they run and pass block well, have strength and speed. Alex Arden the 2nd year man out of Oregon is the only potential weak spot and that is only due to inexperience. The problem that the Bears may have is injuries as the depth of the line is not the greatest.

    Offensive Strategy

The Bears are a power running team and if you want to stop them you have to stop the run, to do that most teams will need to put 9 men in the box against them, if you do that then you leave your self open to the play action pass and Wiggens has the skill to do exactly that. So expect the Bears to run the ball early and maybe pass in the 3rd and 4th quarter if they need to.

    Defensive Line

Gaines Adams at Left Defensive End is likely to be scaring opposing linemen and Quarterbacks to death this year, although some say he lacks power he more than makes up for it in technique and boy is he fast out of the blocks. Kurt Cervantes will start on the right side and may pick up more sacks than expected as Adams seems likely to be double teamed quite often. In the Center of the line is the awesome Amobi Okoye, he’s just 5-11 he has everything, speed power and when he hits, you stay hit. Quinten Stragell will start along side Okoye and all though he is the 2nd class citizen compared to Okoye he still would start on any other NFL team. All in all this is an excellent unit and expect up to 3 of these players to make the Pro Bowl.

    Linebackers

If you get past the Defensive Lineman then you come up against another awesome unit that is lead by David Harris the 10th overall pick 3 years ago. Rated as one of the top 3 middle Line Backers in the league he is the complete player. Complementing Harris either side of him will be Daryl Smith on the strong side and Jonathon Vilma on the weak side. You just don’t run the ball in Smith’s or Vilma’s direction and they are pretty dam good in coverage as well. These guys are being compared to the likes of previous Bears superstars such as Urlacher and Briggs, but they need to make the next step and go to Franchise Bowl if they are to be considered better.

    Secondary

Phillip Buchanon will start at left Cornerback, who will start on the other side is still a mystery, Jared Douglas was expected to take the starting job but his season ending injury in the final week of pre-season has left the Coaches with a headache. Oshi Atogwe has won the role of starter at Strong Safety, with just 1 interception in the previous two years Oshi will need to do better this year. Sammy Gomez could start in the Free role. The secondary is the weak part of the Bears Defence and it will need to play above itself if the Bears are to deliver a place in the Franchise Bowl to there adoring fans

    Defensive Strategy

Expect the Opposition to pass versus the Bears this year because no one will be running on them. The front 7 will need to get pressure to help the secondary and if they can do that then its going to be a very hard defence to score point against this year. Maybe the Bears will play a little bit more Pass defence than run

    Special Teams

Stephen Gostkowski will be the starting Kicker this year, this guy can kick the ball miles but where it ends up at times can be any ones guess. When Punter Daniel Sepulveda punts the ball it arrives back to earth with snow on it. Wide Receiver Reynolds is likely to take the Kickoffs but the puntin returner is yet to be decided. The coverage teams are very good so all in all this is another pretty good unit.

    Draft Recap

    Prediction.

I expect the NFC North to be tied up around week 14 for the Bears. Most Bears fans would welcome there first Divisional Title in 9 years but there is a belief around Chicago that they can not only make the Playoffs but they can make it all the way to the Franchise Bowl, anything less than the NFC Championship game is going to be considered a poor season, so the question is can the Bears handle the pressure and deliver at long last.

With out a doubt the class of the division. QB Lenny Wiggins is as good as advertised. They even got him another weapon this off-season in TE J.T. Large. Large is more of a run blocker, but coaches say he is a great route runner. Donnie Avery enters his 2nd season and this should be much better then his 1st. If teams try to throw 5 and 6 DB’s at them, they will get a heavy douse of 2015 ROY RB Darren McFadden. If the OT’s can give Wiggins some time this might be one of the best offense in the league. The defense does not look very good, SS Cornell Nicolero is one of the best in the business, but he is not going shut people done everyone by himself. This defense does not have to play great. They just need to make some spots in the 4th quarter.
