    2016 Preview

Don’t rule this team out from winning the west. Talent alone I think they are the best team in the division. They are going to have 6 rookies starting this season. It starts with the QB. Brian Brohm definitely looks the part. He is a smart QB that can make all the throws. RB Phillip Ackerman looks to have locked up the RB job. FB Robert Newton should be a nice addition in the running game. The team is counting on WR Terrell Houari to give Brain Brohm a nice weapon to work with. OT Irv Fisk might not win the job right away, but this guy is going to be a good OT in this league for years to come. They have some stars on the defensive side of the ball. DE Vernon Gholston and Dennis Parrish are going to give offensive lineman fits this year. Patrick Willis is a tackling machine and is great against the run. The two safety spot are starting to be known as the Cape Crusaders in 3rd rd pick Darren Meehan (Robin) and Benjamin Kramer (Batman). If these rookie start play like vets by week 10 watch out west.

      2016 Review
Things were looking up for Denver in 2016. Going into week 11, they were 7-2 and leading the AFC West by 1 game.

Then 5 straight losses cost them the AFC West title. It's not surprising that those 5 games were some of the worst for 2nd year QB Brian Brohm. Drafted 1.8 in 2015 by Denver, Brohm was shoved into the starting role week 11 of the 2015 season and has started every game since.

Denver was just a little better than average in offense last season averaging 333.1 YPG and a little below average scoring 20.0 ppg. Surprisingly, their defense was quite good, only allowing 17.1ppg. This despite being -6 in the turnover margin.

      2017- Outlook
Most of the off season signings were backups and hole fillers and none of really much significance. Their draft on the other hand was very good.... on the defensive side of the ball. Stud Stan 'The Man' Whitfield from Charleston Southern is a little undersized at 6-1 224, but what he lacks is size he more than makes up for in 'Smackdown' ability. Nightly on ESPNU you would just see highlights of this guy hitting people, making plays and dominating a game.

Charles MaKinster could be the steal of the draft. Look for him to be in the starting line up before the end of the season.

Denver got better and really didn't loose anything in the off season. QB Brian Brohm will be carrying the load on offense, because Denver has no running game. That will allow teams to sit back and concentrate on the pass. Denver needs to find a running game if they are going to make the playoffs this season. They have all the pieces and GM Cyril has shown that he knows what he's doing on defense.

Denver will have one of the best defense in the league, can their offense put up enough points to help them succeed.

      2017 Schedule:
      Oakland 9-7
      at Philadelphia 11-5
      at Houston 9-7
      Bye
      Buffalo 9-7
      at Miami 4-12
      at San Diego 9-7
      New England 11-5
      at Kansas City 3-13
      at NY Jets 13-3
      at Oakland 9-7
      NY Giants 7-9
      Cleveland 11-5
      at Washington 12-4
      Kansas City 3-13
      Dallas 3-13
      San Diego 9-7
      132-124

      2017 Prediction:
Denver ends the season with 3 home games, 2 against division rivals. Those games will decide who wins the AFC West. But they will have
to watch out. It's a very real possibility they could start out the season 0-3 heading into the bye week. They need to get a couple of wins
against some of the leagues better teams if they hope to make the playoffs. I think Denver will go 5-5 outside it's division. So, the
division games will determine if they make it into the playoffs, going by their 4-2 record last season, that would put them back at
9-7. But, I think they will go 5-1 in their division this season and end up 10-6 and winning the AFC West.

The Denver Broncos enter the 2022 season as two time defending franchise bowl champions. Denver is trying to join the Los Angeles Saints as the only team to win 3 championship in a row. Denver would also join the Washington Redskins as the only franchises to win the championship 3 times.

Denver is in great salary cap situation with all the major players locked up to multi year deals and still has plenty of cap space to work with over the next couple of FA's.

The Broncos lost G Chris Spencer to retirement this offseason and while he'll be missed the offense should have no problem replacing him. The offensive line looks very solid, last year 1st round pick C J.R. Clemons teamed with G Randal Welch should keep the Denver running game among the league's best.

Bobby Floyd looks like he'll be the main ball carrier in Denver for one more season. Floyd sits 9th right now in career rushing yards and with a full healthy season he could find himself 3rd or 4th by the end of the year.

Brian Brohm doesn't get enough credit as one of the league's best QB's. His career winning % of 726 ranks 3rd all time and there's no reason he won't continue on that path. Looking over his career stats he's the model of consistency with 4 straight 65+ comp % and averaging over 6.5 ypa. With Floyd in the twilight of his career and Brohm just entering his prime I wouldn't be surprised to see Denver put more of the game in Brohm hands.

Denver may not have a big name star on defense but over the past 4 years this unit produces as much as any team in the league. The Bronco's have been in the top 10 in points scored against going back to 2016.
Denver Looks like Denver will be starting two rookies in the front seven.
DE Everson Griffen a 3rd round pick had a good camp and should beat out DE jason Burke who's more of a situational pass rusher.

Patrick Angerer a 2nd round pick could easily earn a starting job at ILB in the Bronco's 3-4 system. Angerer also had a great camp and his overall versatility will make it difficult for the Denver coaching staff to keep him off the field.

Pat Zimmerman and Reuben Stevenson should provide an interesting battle for the starting WLB position. Zimmerman has the superior pass rushing skills and Stevenson has seen his production decline since his rookie season.

The other interesting battle on the defensive side is at RCB. Rookie 2nd round pick Morgan Burnett has some nice skills but is only a rookie. 3yr CB Jay Garrett started 12 games last year and will probably open the season starting but I wouldn't be surprised to see Morgan finish the year starting.

        Projecting the AC West
Denver has won the division 5 straight years and while Kansas City has a very nice looking young team I don't see them knocking off Denver yet.
        Denver 12-4
        Kansas City 11-5
        San Diego 6-10
        Oakland 4-12
