    Off-Season Recap

Last Season's Record: 10-6 (2nd in the AFC South); lost in Divisional Round to TEN

    Retirements: none

    Summer League: WR Cornelius Romund

Free Agent Signings: SLB Reggie Tolbor (42/42), DE Jared Allen (49/49), RG Deion Botello (37/43), DE Brian Robison (22/37)

Aquired via Trade: WR Roy Williams (77/77)

    Draft:
    2-25: RT Damon Woods (21/53)
    4-26: CB Sammie Bloomgarden (23/47)
    5-1: RB Rodney Triplett (30/45)
    5-25: TE Bob Bundy (29/49)
    6-24: FS Grady Porter (18/46)
    7-26: WR Raleigh Drury (20/43)

Free Agents Lost: WR Skip Watkins (35/35) to SDO, DE Zach Burnett (47/47) to HOU, CB Jason Forbes (38/38) to HOU, DE Bill Swancutt (35/43) to DET, ILB Terrell Morris (27/34) to MIN

    Quarterbacks:
Vince Young (99/99) enters his 5th season to lead the Colts high-powered offense. After struggling his first 3 years in the league, Young turned a corner last year... completing 65.5% of his passes for 3556 yards with 17 TDs and 5 INTs for a QB rating of 91.1. With the addition of Roy Williams, look for Young to become one of the best QBs in the league. Jason Campbell (47/47), who played well this pre-season, will back-up Young for the 2nd straight year.

    Running Backs:
4th year back, Lamar Montero (80/80), only had one 100 yard rushing game in the regular season last year, but rushed for 12 TDs. He finished the season with 1032 rushing yards on 254 carries, good for an average of 4.06 yards per carry. With the passing attack drawing a lot of attention, look for Montero to find the holes in opposing defenses this season as he has a career year. Jerome Kirby (36/41), averaged over a yard less per carry last season (3.89) than he did the year before (4.95). Rookie Rodney Tripplett (30/45) averaged 5 yards per carry this preseason.. look for him to push Kirby for the number 2 back role.

    Receivers:
Santonio Holmes (65/65) has drawn a ton of double coverage since he's joined the league, but with the addition of Roy Williams (77/77) this season, look for Holmes to get his first 1000 yard season. Williams has had at least 1000 yards each of the past 4 seasons (1305 yards with 12 TDs with Tampa Bay last year) and he should fit in great with the Colts style of offense.

    Offensive Line:
The line will be key to the team's success. If they give Young the time, he will completely pick apart most defenses. The 5 starters from last season all return, as they continue to build towards becoming one cohesive unit. C Rob Curtis (60/60) has been solid in his 4 years as a starter (36% in KRBs while allowing only 10 sacks). At the G position, Devin Joseph (63/63) is one of the league's best young offensive linemen. He had 7 pancake blocks last season, 37.5% in KRBs, and only allowed 1 sack in 451 passing plays. Jeremy Trueblood (47/47) mans the RG position, where he's only allowed 7 sacks in his 3 seasons as a starter. Over at LT, Chuck Reeves (54/54) has been outstanding at run blocking, but has trouble at times with the league's best pass rushers. Ernie Rivera (42/42) should start at RT, where he only allowed 1 sack last season.

    Defensive Line:
Christian Sievers (65/65) and Deion Watkins (65/65) will be the starting ends. Sievers was 2nd Team All-League in 2010 & 2011 for New England before his numbers dipped a bit in his first season in the Colts defense. We look for him to have a huge year this season now that he's familiar with the system. Watkins has had trouble getting around the big LTs in the league, only managing a total of 7 sacks over the last 2 seasons. The Colts hope he can play more like he did in 2010, when he had 11 sacks. On the inside, the Colts will start Kamerion Wimbley (58/58) & Mike Patterson (83/83). Wimbley is an excellant run stuffer, while Patterson has the all-around talent looking for his break-out season.

    Linebackers:
Entering his 3rd season, MLB Lawrence Timmons (92/92) is still learning the game at this level. Which is scary since he's quite a beast already. He had 124 tackles, 3 sacks, and 3 INTs last season. If he can improve his pass coverage, he'll become the best in the game. SLB Reggie Torbor (42/42) was signed this offseason and should start for the Colts after being a back-up the past 2 seasons. WLB Carlos DeVito (51/51) returns for his 2nd season as a starter for the Colts.

    Cornerbacks:
Calvin Borders (80/80) looks to build off his impressive rookie campaign... one in which he had 6 INTs, 9 passes defensed, and a PDPct of 82.5%. He has been slowed by turf toe this preseason though, so he may have a rough time the first part of the season while he battles with that. Darrelle Revis (69/69) enters his 3rd season. Revis suffered a serious injury to his ACL in the playoffs last season, but has looked to be at 100% this preseason. He had 6 INTs, 8 passes defensed, and a PDPct of 81.4 last season. With the offense putting up the points, the secondary will need to stay healthy as teams will be passing a lot to play catch-up. There isn't a lot of depth here, as Corey Webster (41/41) and rookie Sammie Bloomgarden (23/47) are the only other 2 corners on the current roster.

    Safeties:
SS Nick Collins (51/51) struggled to stay healthy last season, starting only 3 games while appearing in 9. He played well though in the limited action, with a career high 3 INTs and a career best PDPct of 85.9% Collins might split time at SS with 3rd year guy Michael Griffin (47/47). Griffin has also had a history of injury problems (and is currently out for Week 1 with a strained foot ligament). At FS, the Colts will start Dexter Rickard. Like the rest of the safeties here, Rickard has a problem staying healthy... suffering 6 seperate injuries the past 2 seasons. He has the talent to become one of the elite, but hasn't done so yet with only 3 career INTs (all of which came in 2011) and a career PDPct of 77.9%

    SEASON OUTLOOK:
With the addition of a veteran like Roy Williams, look for the Colts offense to continue to build on the success of last season. The Colts struggled at times last season to put points on the board, but look for them to explode this year. 450+ points is quite possible from this unit. The defense looks strong, but keeping the secondary healthy will be the key, especially come playoff time. Look for a 13-3 season and the Colts to finally reach the Franchise Bowl.

      2016 Preview

The Colts have essentially been blown up this offseason, going into a full-fledged rebuilding mode. They are now one of the youngest teams in the league with an average age of 26.2, and with that of course comes inexperience and lack of chemistry. QB K.C. Shanks is a stop-gap guy whose duty is to just get the Colts through this season without making a complete embarassment of the franchise during the rebuild. Indy has picked up some great young offensive line talent to build an offense around in the draft, including RT Daniel Miller with the first pick in the draft and 2nd round RG Mario Woodford. Don't expect much from the Colts this season as far as wins. The real value of this season will be the opportunity to evaluate everyone to see who sticks around for the future, which at this point has some promise, especially with 5 first round picks next year.

        Indianapolis Colts 2022 Preview

        Indianapolis Colts 2022 Team Preview

        [b]Key losses:none worth mentioning

Key FA: RB Ronnie Blair, DE Chris Ellis from Miami, DE Marco Racz, WR Jerome Cowsette from Clevealnd, CB Teddy Groves from Carolina.

        Draft:
Indianapolis received an A in their draft, with two 1st round selections that look to be huge additions to the roster.
#7 pick DT Gerald McCoy and #9 pick SLB Brandon Graham appear to be instant starters.
2nd round pick LT Chris Hudson and 3rd round pick C Matt Tennant also appear to be candidates to start this season.

        1.7 DT Gerald McCoy 52/77
        1.9 SLB Brandon Graham 46/76
        2.7 LT Chris Hudson 26/61
        3.24 C Matt Tennant 31/61
        5.7 WLB Navarro Bowman 27/49
        6.7 SILB Joel Oneill 19/44
        7.7 MLB Dwight Berry 19/51

        Last Season:
Indianapolis finished 4-12 and in 3rd place in the AFC South, giving up the 5th most points in the AFC and the 7th most in the league.
Its Clear they Drafted McCoy and Graham to attempt to strengthen that defense.

        2022 Outlook
While Indianapolis has begun to address needs on the defensive side of the ball, The AFC South may be one of the most competitive divisions in the league this season.
Jacksonville returns stronger than ever after winning the division last season, Houston looks like they will be tough again and Tennessee has made a lot of moves this offseason to improve their team as well.
Indianapolis has all the tools to compete for the division title this season, but so do the other 3 teams.

        QB
Mark Sanchez gives the Colts a young, accurate QB that has improved each season. The future looks bright here.

        Backfield
The bulk of the backfield duties will be handled by Knowshon Moreno, but newcomer Ronnie Blair could provide a change of pace back.

        WR
Jimmie Mahaffey and Ronnie Bentson are 2 solid targets for Sanchez to throw to, and Jerome Dove adds a quality pass catching TE.

        O-Line
The offensive line is solid accross the board and should continue to get better as rookie Center Tennant makes his way into the lineup.

        D-Line
The Defensive Line is going to improve immediately with the addition of DT McCoy. The Colts may still be a little weak at RDE.

        LB
SLB Brandon Graham improves the Colts LBs, but this may be an area that they are still a bit weak at.

        D-Backs
The Colts secondary is solid, and should be one of the teams strenghts, although they could probably use an upgrade at Free Safety.

Special Teams Kicker David Buehler and P Clay Starks give the Colts solid specialists and the return game should be solid too with PR Hal Tyler and KR Malcolm Jenkins.

            Re: Indianapolis Colts

            2029 Season Preview

Indianapolis Colts look to improve on a dismal 2-14 record last season.

            First round picks.
The Colts had a very busy 1st round taking QB T.J. Jordan with the first pick of the draft. Jordan looks to be a few years away from being a top notch QB but could see some action to get some experience. The Colts then took S Eugene Cooley with their second 1st round pick which should help their secondary right away. With their 3rd 1st round pick the picked MLB Arnold Langham looks to be a few years away from being a every day player and will not help them much this year. They also drafted LB Phillip Mathis in the first round and looks to be a starter on the first day. They also took S Chester Watson in the 1st round who will see alot of playing time this year. With all these 1st round picks there seems to be more projects than sure starters with only the two s safeties really to make any noise this year.

            Second round picks
CB Vinny Shannon is a bust and will be lucky to make the team. They also took CB Jamal Torelli who is way better than Shannon and will play some this year but will have to improve a bunch to be a solid starter.

            Third round pick
G Steven Smith looks at this point to be a back-up and will not help much this year.

            Fourth round pick
They took another G Deron Grant another player which will be a long shot to ever be a starter and will not help at all this year. DT Archie McCardell will not be a factor this year and might have a hard time turning into anything but a back-up.

            Fifth round picks
FB Juan Simuel is a solid pick in the 5th round and should be a starter at some point this season. WR Hunter Cassidy could turn into a 3rd wide out at some point but will not help much this season

They look like they drafted more players that need time to develop than they did starters which is a disappointment with the number of high picks.

            Offense:

They might as well start rookie QB T.J. Jordan because he is not that far away from the other older QBs on the team. Put him in and see what he can do. HB Myron Stargell is a very nice back with the ability to take some of the pressure off of which ever QB is starting. What will hurt him is the offensive line is not very strong at all and there will not be a bunch of holes to gain big yards. The line will also have a hard time keeping good pass rushers off the QB. The WR staff is average with the exception of super stud WR Howard Hutek who can just dominate most any CB in the league if the QB can have time to throw.

            Defense:

Defensive line can rush the passer but are not very good run stoppers so good backs should be able to have nice gains. LBs are average young but should improve as the season goes on. The secondary is also young and will have a very hard time against top WR but will get better as the season goes on. The young safties will improve every game and will be stellar with time.

I think the Colts will have a hard time winning games this year but will show improvement with the development of some of the young players. They will do a bit better than 2 wins by going 5-11 this year.

              Re: Indianapolis Colts

When W24olfpack had to resign as the Colts GM, many feared that the rebuilding process he had begun would come screaching to a halt and the team would be in limbo for the foreseable future. On Friday evening, the Colts announced that Red Zone had been hired to take over as the teams President and General Manager. The first thing Red Zone did was to have a meeting with the current Scout, Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator and Defensive Coordinator, to assure them that they will be retained and that there will be no changes made to the Front Office or the Coaching Staff. Head Coach Morris Mueller and Red Zone have worked together before, so there is a strong bond there and its always been Red Zone's philosophy to allow the Head Coach to hire his own coaching staff. With a strong young core of talent in place, Red Zone's top priorities will be to continue to build the roster and to encourage continuity and chemistry as they grow together as a team.

Red Zone released the following statement to the press this morning

"This season's Won/Loss record isnt as important as the development of our young players...that...will be our priority. We want to win games, but not at the expense of playing time for our young prospects. Figuring out what our needs are for next season and formulating a long term gameplan on both sides of the ball will also be priorities over the last 10 games of this season.
My longtime Friend W24olfpack has started something very special here...and I want to do everything in my power...to finish it in a way that he would be proud of. There will be no shortcuts, and it will be hard work...but we will get it done."

After Treading Water in 2029 and 2030 while the young players on the team developed, The Colts reached back to back AFC Championship Games in 2031 and 2032. Both Seasons ended with losses to The New York Jets. As the 2033 Season began, GM Red Zone was faced with a dilemma. Should he keep QB TJ Jordan and hope that he grew into the kind of a leader that this team needed, or should he go out and get a veteran that could lead this team to a Franchise Bowl...now. The team was clearly disappointed with the injury problems Jordan had the past 2 seasons and there is a feeling that the time to strike....is now. So Red Zone gave his old friend W24olfpack a call in Minnesota...to inquire about QB Colt McCoy. McCoy is a 12 yr vet and was showcased last season while the Vikings were on their way to their 2nd consecutive Franchise Bowl win...ironically...both over those same New York Jets. A deal was struck, Indy sent their entire 2033 draft to Minnesota for McCoy and a 2034 2nd round pick. Jordan was then dealt to The New York Giants in a deal that saw Indianapolis add CB Randal Joyner to an already solid defense. RB Luther Richardson was the final piece of the puzzle, coming over from The St Louis Rams.
While Red Zone Clearly thinks the window is wider than just this season, its also pretty clear he is tired of excuses.
In 2033, Indianapolis expects to be a major contender, not only for the playoffs, but to win the Franchise Bowl.
