  • Hidden Gems?

I noticed RedZone posted a question to Chuck about his possible hidden gem in the 5th round this year and it dawned on me that it might be fun to post some of our possible gems on here for everyone to enjoy and offer opinions about.
    My possible gem for 2061:
MLB Caden Flynn, 6th round pick
He has little to no pass rush ability and has limited endurance but he is solid vs. the run and in coverage and has good football smarts. He likely won't be All-Pro but he could be solid starter material.

LDT Todd Batch in the 6th. 70s for run defense and PRS. 50 for PRT. 65 for punishing hitter. He would be on my d-line for a long time.

Just browsing the forum history today. Nice call and great draft pick BJ. But I would disagree on one point - Flynn very well could be an all-pro soon. He has 70 tackles through 11 games in his 2nd season and is defending the pass as well.

Hidden gem for Dallas pick 6.32 in this recent draft, DE Jonathan Gomez 13 tackles and 6 sacks. Nice contribution for Mr. Gomez

That's generous of you Dawg but he isn't at the top of the list for tackles (I think 6 ILBs ahead of him) and doesn't rush the passer. One of the reasons he may be up there is that our team has fallen behind so much recently that teams have run at us a bit more. He is good in coverage however and so I am still very happy we drafted him.

Great pick Flex! I was hoping this thread would keep filling as it adds an extra element of fun bragging to the league.

              Well since you asked...

Check out the NYJ 7.31 pick, WR Taylor Olman. My scouts rated him 36/61, above the league scout. He wasn't quite Mr. Irrelevant, but close.

We did miss on our 5th round pick CB Butch Balgaroo. You can move the needle in your direction in terms of draft qualtity, but a bit of luck helps sometimes as well.

Nice one Dawgfan. You seem to have more of a knack than I do at finding these sort of players. The luck factor of players booming or busting is always difficult to predict but you seem to have a better grasp of who could be a find.
