  • Giants 2051 Season Preview

Giants finished 2050 with a record of 9-7. This was good enough to win the NFC east and a trip to the playoffs. Giants were bounced the the Seattle Seahawks which put a damper on the sessions accomplishments.

For 2051, the Giants hope to keep alive there streak of 7 straight NFC East titles.

    Giants Offense
    Ranked 16 in Rushing
    Ranked 13 in Passing

    Giants Defense
    Ranked 22 in Rushing
    Ranked 4 in Passing

The loss of Flora left the Giants with holes they looked to fill with Randal Blanchard at QB. This left the Giants in the middle of the pack on offense.
Giants strength was there as pass defense, as they were top 5 in pass defense. Some could say they concentrated too much on pass defense as the rushing defense was in ranked in the bottom 3rd.

    Key Additions
Theme here is though shalt now pass...
Julian Lyle - DE was brought in to improve defense line play against the run. Lyle was a pass rushing specialist in Miami where he amassed 11.5 sacks.. Giants believe with a bigger role he can improve the defense.
Leonard Wiliams DE - Another Pass Rushing specialist, who picked up 9 sacks last year. Giants expects to use him as a 3rd down rusher.
Ed Linquist CB - Giants were deep at for at Cornerback but did not really have shut down corner.
Linquist was an underrated run defender at the corner and will now be asked to fulfill this role.

    Key Losses
Brant Booker and Norbert Blackwell - NT, is this addition by subtraction? Giants were bottom 3rd with, so a remake of the interior defense ws needed. Both DT were loss via Free Agency
    Khalil Mack OLB
    - A bit surprised to lose Mack to Pittsburgh. Mack was the elder statesman of the Giants defense and will be missed.

    Draft

    [1-21]Dalton Husted
    - DE
    School: Arkansas
    Height: 6' 6" (Above Average)
Weight: 307 lbs (Way Above Average)

    Home Town Analysis
Remaking of the D-Line continues with Husted out of Arkansas He can play all across the defensive front line. Husted has shown good instincts and is excellent at run defense. He is relentless and a big hitter.

    Role:
    Starting DT

    [2-22] Butch Dunn - RB
    School: Delaware State
    Height: 5' 10" (Below Average)
Weight: 202 lbs (Way Below Average)

    Home Town Analysis
Giants focused on the running game, picking Dunn from Delaware State. On film, Dunn showed quick feet, as well as the ability to take the ball inside. Lacks the ideal speed to take it the distance. He provides immediate depth at the RB position.

    Role:
    2nd String RB

    [3-21] Seth Rudolf - OLB
    School: Michigan
    Height: 6'0'' (Below Average)
    Weight: 205 lbs (Way Above
    Average)

    Home Town Analysis
After losing out on Khalil Mack, Rudolf looked like the ideal replacement. With the big push on pass rushers, the Giants went with Rudolf who's strength is run stopping as well a good eye and instincts.

    Role:
    Starting OLB

    [ 4-22] Angel Newhart - G
    School: Richmond
    Height:
    6' 3" (Below Average)
    Weight:312 lbs (
    Average)

    Home Town Analysis
Running game was a problem. Is Newhart the answer? Giants have big dreams hoping that Newhart will fill the inside role on the O-line. Jack of all trades who doesn't everything well but isn't exceptional ant any role. We shall see if he can earn a role with the starting unit.

    Role:
    Starting G.
