    Off-season forecast

    * Retirements

    QB Buddy Johnstone

    * Key Resignings / Arrivals

    QB Ryan Mallett -->
    Signed his Franchise tender and will be ready to fight for his last pay-check during this year, we expect from him to play like in the last part of the season with young WRs who added another year of experience under his hands.

    QB Al Stewart -->
    After the departure of our back-up QB we need a fresh man under the Center on the off-season, he could reach an average potential, so could fit well for a back-up / game manager QB, have the arm and all the intangibles in a decent future level, so we will try.

    OG Louie Warwick -->
    Excellent run blocker OG who do enough in passing downs to earn a near 33 Millions in 4 Years.

    DE Glen Anzivino -->
    With a much logical adjusted contract we don´t have any problem to extend him 6,3 millions in 2 Years for a premier back-up or situational starter.

    WLB Charles Myers -->
    I think he could be one of the best pass rushers in the league, now with Maiorello hitting probably his last year we need a replacement for the long term. This former 4th Round pick by dallas could reach 68 in PRT and have a powerfull 91 in PRS.

    CB Darnell Rockne -->
    Signed to provide depth after the departure of Donny Nord for a 2nd Round exchange with Dallas, but will fight in the Pre-season for a starting spot as well, he have a great statistics and I want to see how he can play.

    * Key Departures

    OG Johnny Herbertson --> Headed to Pittsburgh via Free Agency his departure will affect our run game but we have two other good Guards and Fits is a better player protecting Mallett.

    CB Donny Nord --> Traded to Dallas, after playing his worst season, he loose the starting job and a plague of injuries put him out of San Diego who don´t want to afford his contract anymore.

    QB Mickey Heemskerk -->
    Due to a strong conflict I don´t want to have our own "fight club" anymore, he was just a back-up and his expectations as a developmental prospect felt off.

    SS Jumbo Coffey -->
    After a hughe Drop in Pre-season he never meet the expectations that we had from him.

    Chargers 2039 Draft

    Round 1 Pick 5, FS Gabin Barlow (Auburn)

    Stand out Free Safety out from the SEC directly to the AFC West to supply Free Agency departure DeAngellis, he is the new version of the ball-hawk all-pro Free Safety who feared the opposing QBs for over a decade. Trading up from the #21 to the #5 overall pick worth the couple of 2nd round picks which I surrended for him. He was "as scouted" by our scouting team and show the bars and the combines in Indianapolis to be a starter from day 1 and dominate the back-end of the AFC West during his career. The only "cons" is his height and weight, we will focus him in the trainning room this off-season to upper his body-mass but this Bob Sanders type guy will be a monster, I´m pretty sure.

    Round 2 Pick 23, FB Jonah Burnett (Kansas)

    After falling short of Hindman gone just 4 picks before, I select this Kansas prospect triple-thread with really high bars blocking, rushing and receiving, he was really a nightmare during his College stage but filtered as Overrated by scouts his play with the Pros will fall a little bit for sure, but he´s an up-grade for Carr and our powerfull run game, he will learn under our mentors during TC and Pre-season to start day 1 pushing in the second level to create highways.

    Round 3 Pick 17, WR Julio Van Dewege (Michigan State)

    The Spartan product never will burn D# with his straight speed but is a nice slot prospect for the short passing game, high RR combined with high Sole, nice Courage combined with a high strength and nice AD bar combines with above average positional drill, he could be a steal and cover the role of old D. Kennedy who have similar bars and played good football the last part of the season with Mallett on fire.

      TE Darrell Frederick (Kentucky) 81/81 traded to San Diego from Arizona

      After a hard negotiations finally Cardinals and Chargers arrived to a "happy middle" switching TEs Eiffert and Frederick and San Diego sent 1st and 3rd Round picks in exchange for a 6th and 7th in order to land recently TC Bump Darrell Frederick. After being starter since he arrives to the FFL from Kentucky he showed during the Pre-season than his game is on other galaxy this year after ending last year in the IR due a leg injury. The young star grabbed 70% of the balls in his direction for 72 Receptions 646 and 3 touchdowns in his short career, just 21 games.

      Without a doubt will lift pressure for Melsha and Gaines in the aerial assault led by Mallett one more year. I´m anxious to see what he can do against stellar man2man Denver´s linebackers. Don´t forget RB star Carr who will see plenty holes around Frederick as well. Explosive back-field this year.

      With this splash the Chargers push again for a Divisional Tittle after nearly all his starters coming back this year.

            Carr makes it again!

            RB Rick Carr grounds again!! 8th Year Veteran was named MVP in a close votation and made his 3rd Pro-Bowl in the last 5 Years.

            Few players excells in the the field as the veteran do in weekly basics, he is the hearth and shoul of the Chargers attack and the veteran collected 1.398 yards through the ground in 292 attemps for 4,79 average and added 611 receiving yards with more than the 70% passes in his way grabbed. He was aligned all-over the field and put the rock in the house 15 Times during the year.

            He earned the honors in 2034 as well, and he probably will be inducted in the Hall of Fame when his career ends, ala Tomlinson style reunitting with the long tradition of excellent horses in San Diego.

            Now he will enter in his 8th year and will turn 30 during the year, the time when most of the running-backs starts the wrong-zone of their careers, but despite the more than probably drop-due-age in TC he will sign his Franchise tender and maybe a contract extension depending on how his season goes.

                  2040 Draft Class

                  2040 Draft Class

                  * Round 1 Pick 24 --> OG Broderick Adderley (Michigan)

                  After trading up in the pool for him, with that adquisition we want to sell out our future in the Offensive Line, with Kelvin Lane and Lane Johnson as a veteran cornerstones the pick of Adderley, alongside with Warwick will solidify the middle of the line and will save now Mallett and then the next QB of the ferocious pass rush of the DT and ILB into the AFC West.

                  * Round 2 Pick 7 --> DT Timmy Jernigan (Illinois)

                  Another big body, this time in the D#, with the departure of Farley to Miami we have a hughe hole in the middle of the Defense and he is the first fit for a 3-4 scheme with a hughe motor in his legs and flying under the radar due his low 40 Yard dash, anyway he have the best first step of his class and will slice between the opposite linemans to make tackles for loss and Sacks. To add more value to this pick he is Pro-ready and will start from day 1 probably.

                  * Round 2 Pick 18 --> Safety Calvin Prior (Tennesse State)

                  Another Pro-ready defender with Outsanding M2M coverage, hard hitter and great position always in the field to deliver the blown, he will spend some time working as a CB with the first team to see his possible skills and maybe and change of position due we need a lot help in the perimeter. After the opportunity given to Bryce Travis is time for the 3rd Year veteran to play his best camp and retain his SS starting possition with Prior in the town.

                  * Round 4 Pick 19 --> WLB Jake Cowley (Texas)

                  After excell in pass rush during his college career and an awesome 40 Yard dash and Press Bench, he is ready to show what he can do in the "Real Deal", with Maiorello getting older and Tom Bates only 2 sacks as a rookie is time to put fresh and power full legs in the weak-side of the football to pursue the AFC West´s QBs, Cowley have a lot experience in the BIG XII facing big Offensive Tackles and passing atacks and also will be Pro-ready to push for step up into the initial start-up.

                    i like your post, i am considering doing write-ups for my own team similarly. A few years down the road when I re-read them I am sure it will be a lot of fun.

                            Paving from the Street

                            Paving from the Street

                            An history from an old star in the twilight of his career to one of the biggest explosions in the late Season 2040 of the FFL.

                            Selected by the Richmond (Jacksonville) Jaguars in the 3rd Round of 2030 most of the scouts criticed him due his lack of strength despite his massive frame 6´6 / 301 for a Center, and after earnning a starting position in his rookie and 2nd Year with the Jaguars uniform, Hernández was traded during the Offseason of 2032 to Houston in a package trade like a cow few hundreds years ago.
                            He quickly earned an starting position with the texans from 2032 to 2034 where always was a quality starter, but due an ankle problem during the end of 2034 he hitted the free agency of 2035 and signed with the Falcons where again was the starter from 2035 to 2037 helping the Falcons to make good play-off runs with a National Conference Game in 2035, hitting the probowl as a 2nd Center in 2036 in which he collected 33 KRB and only allowed 1 Sack in 411 Passing plays. During the pre-season of 2038 he suffered a foot injury and never played a single game, but in 2039 he came-back stronger than ever to be the starter again for the entire season. During the Free Agency of this year the Falcons decided that Hernandez was old and decided to go in the direction of Peter Kowal from Pittsburgh and gave him a massive lucrative contract over $ 50 Millions and 5 Years, at the beggining of the season Hernández was released and nobody called to his number until the week 7, for more than 1 month this former Pro-Bowler without job he considered the retirement but instead of this he stayed in shape being ready for the Trade-Deadline or even a serious injury.
                            Then the Chargers decided to send his standout Center Kelvin Lane ahead to Seattle in an exchange for late draft picks due the availability of the Veteran Road Blocker in the Market. Then Rondell decided to sign a 1 Year deal for $ 3.3 Dollars to be the starter in San Diego again. His numbers are improving steadly and Rick Carr scored one of the better games of the season with the rock running 6 times over 10 yards and racking up 162 Yards in 19 Carries behind an Offensive-Line directed by the massive frame Center who one time was criticed about his hability to play in the middle of the line due his lack of strength, against the amazing line of the Dolphins with Farley, McIntyre and Hackney the Chargers ran for 199 Yards with a 6.42 average with Hernández leading the way executing 5/8 Key Block opportunities.

                            Now Hernández is the 7th best in the league with an outsanding 48.4 Bpct and only 1 Sack allowed in 212 Passing snaps. He is pushing very hard to make his 2nd Pro-Bowl after his non-wanted-break.

                            And is probably one of the best targets in the next Free Agency, we will push for him for sure, or with Carr hitting his 9th Year in the next Off-season maybe Hernández could snatch the Franchise-Tag and see what happens in the Pre-season..... Uncertain future
