We headed into the 2037 off-season optimistic since we were the proud owners of the 1.1, 1.4, 1.32, and 2.1 picks in the upcoming draft. We had a good RB in OROY Montee Ball and some promising talent at other positions. We were very much hoping to see an elite WR or QB in this class to take at 1.1 and expected to land some sort of BPA at 1.4...unfortunately this wasn't that sort of class.
So we made the best of it and traded away 1.4 as well as several future high picks for an elite WR in 5th year man Roosevelt Bailey. That left us with 1.1 as well as 1.32 and 2.1 to find some decent building blocks.
1.1 - OLB Eddie Begley, Syracuse - 74/79
78/78 (+4/-1) Overall happy with this outcome.
A somewhat controversial player in college as one of the first surgically-enhanced players to play in the NCAA. His court case made a lot of news as initially he was banned by the NCAA because of his augmentations. However the ACLU battled for his rights against discrimination and he was allowed to resume play. The FFL has not issued any official statements at this point but it is assumed that the Titans organization has at least cleared the question prior to making this selection. If he is indeed allowed to play, it seems like it will be a steady headache for QBs and offensive linemen for years to come.
