  • 2034 NFC South Season Preview

2033 will go down as one of the craziest seasons in FFL History.
The NFC South was a major factor in that craziness. All 4 teams ended up with losing records for the first time in FFL History.
New Orleans won the Division with a 6-10 record, followed by Atlanta and Carolina at 4-12 and Tampa Bay at 3-13.

So, what can we expect in 2034?

Atlanta was handicapped by the off field issues that plagued GM Steel all season and the team under performed while he was away.
Now that he is back, Atlanta is the favorite to win the Division in 2034.
Offensively they have a decent Oline and RB Albert Finley, and the Passing game is in the capable hands of QB Nolan Greer. The only Problem is Atlanta doesnt have much talent at WR. Defensively the Falcons are improving, starting 4 rookies for week 3.
Rookie safety Kris Leak is a star waiting to happen.

Tampa Bay has all the pieces to compete for the Division Title, they just need to put it all together.
QB Colin Kaepernick has 5 INTs through 2 games, the quicker they go to Dean Baruffi the better.
RB Cris Stevens and WR Dustin Bishop give them a potentially explosive Offense and the Oline is solid.
Defensively the Bucs are a little thin at LB, but the secondary is very strong now after the Trade for CB Randal Joyner.

New Orleans is in the midst of a rebuild, having dealt off a number of veterans including QB Tim Tebow.
GM Brimar Stu has recovered nicely from salary cap hell and has assembled some draft picks to start a youth movement.
In a Division like the NFC east New Orleans wouldnt have much of a chance, but in the NFC South anything is possible.
Look for the Saints to end up 3rd this season, and start to draft the players that will help them turn things around in a season or two.

Carolina started out strong last season, and then faded badly down the stretch.
To make matters worse, QB Howie Barrett retired and slapped them with about an 80 Million cap penalty.
GM bama80 has had to deal off everything but the kitchen sink to get back under the cap, I think at one point he even had the kitchen sink listed on his trade block...for a 6th round pick.
This season will be ugly for the Panthers, but they have added some picks and the future will be better
    It cant get any worse.

With Carolina and New Orleans clearly in rebuild mode, the time is now for Tampa Bay to strike.
If Atlanta falters, the Bucs could take the Division and return to the playoffs for the first time since 2030.
