  • Giants Season Preview

The 2031 season has started off with a bang in New York. The Giants, coming off a horrible 3 win season, went into the off season looking to upgrade the roster. The Giants have not had a winning season since 2022 (The exception being 2024s 8-8 record), and the way to bring the franchise back to respectability was to upgrade the talent baser. And how did they do this offseason? Exceptional. Great players litter the field. Something the Giants havent seen in almost a decade.
Here is a look at the possible starting lineup for the 2031 version of the franchise. New starters in bold.

    Offense:
QB-- Mel Emmons 64/64 4th - Entering his 4th season, he hasnt had this much potential talent to use.
RB-- Dwayne Winslet 63/63 6th - Leagues leading rusher wont be the focus. This may help him.
FB-- Dominic Meier 36/36 4th - Wont see much PT. Look for lots of multiple receiver sets with Meier on the bench.
TE-- Stanley Gomez 50/61 2nd - Acquired in trade with Richmond. Huge upgrade and young. A much needed addition.
FL-- Justin Blackmon 41/47 1st - 1st overall pick of the 2031 draft. Is already miles ahead of any receiver on last years roster.
LT-- Nate "Iron" Solder 72/72 5th - The anchor of our line. A force on offense.
LG-- Cornell Palmer 50/50 9th - Acquired in a trade with Green Bay. Moves from LT to LG. A definite upgrade.
C-- Rex Murray 75/75 8th - Acquired in a trade with San Diego. An incredible center. One of the best in the league.
RG-- Aaron Poehnert 54/54 6th - One of the returning starters. Solid guard.
RT-- Mitch Hutton 49/49 4th - Rough last season. Line may shift if Hutton struggles. Palmer may move here and JD Walton will slide to LG.
SE-- Michael Floyd 40/63 1st - Picked #11 in this years draft. Another huge upgrade. Big things expected.

    Defense:
LDE-- Christian Lindsay 41/41 4th - Not a sure bet. But its his job to lose.
LDT-- Drake Nevis 48/48 5th - Signed as a FA. Big shoes to fill. But solid play is expected.
RDT-- Bart Fisher 47/47 4th - Solid play is expected. If we can get a few sacks and hurries from both positions. We are happy.
RDE-- Louis Franz 57/57 7th - Coming off a season ending injury. He is the front line anchor and is expected to play that way.
SLB-- Britt Bueter 61/62 2nd - As he develops, the numbers should as well. Experience is needed.
MLB-- Mason Foster 57/57 5th - A great run stopper needs to improve pass defense.
WLB-- Andy McCormick 60/60 9th - The wily veteran of the linebackers. A solid performer.
LCB-- Randal Joyner 79/80 2nd - A great rookie season needs to be topped.
SS-- Paul Musterer 50/50 7th - A new addition from Richmond bolsters a weak group. Should be a real asset.
FS-- Brady DeAngelis 89/89 4th - Acquired from Buffalo after TC. Wow. A true playmaker for the d backfield. a great addition.
RCB-- Harold Foster 42/51 3rd - With the addition of 2 new safeties, Foster should feel more confident.

    Special Teams:
P-- Rich Mendes 58/58 4th - Hoping he can limit damage in the punting game.
K-- Lee Peel 58/58 12th - Acquired as a FA. Hoping for the best, fearing the worst.
PR-- Terrance Tate 83/83 12th - Expecting big numbers.
KR-- Michael Floyd 27/62 1st - While not the most experienced. He is the most talented.

Lots of new faces dot the roster. And talented new faces at that. 8 wins should be attainable. Is a division title possible?
