The New York Giants couldnt wait. The team has been anxiously waiting for the draft to start since the draft class came out. From the start of the Giants Rookie Tryouts. The Giants invited 3 players to the 1st tryout. CB Morris CLaiborne, CB Stephen Gilmore, WR Justin Blackmon. Giant Lead Scout Charlie Engleberger, Lead Scout for 2 Franchise Bowl winning teams, came out of the 2 day tryout and said "The best player Ive seen coming out of college, let alone the most talented position player Ive seen in my 20 plus years in the league."
Giants Head Coach Lawrence Langer was equally impressed "Wow. That was an amazing workout."
The waiting began, the Giants were strategizing different pick scenarios. The coaching staff plead their cases, the scouts gave their input. Ultimately, Coach Langer made the call "There is only one sure thing. We need to do it."
GM Tarc agreed, and the deal of the day was made.. Tarc sent their 3 and 34 picks to Miami for the 1 pick.
Draft day arrives. Commissioner Arizing strides to the podium. "There has been a trade. The Maimi Dolphins trade the 1st overall pick to the New York Giants for New Yorks 1.3 pick and 2.2 pick. New York is on the clock."
The crowd erupted. The Giant faithful are look for a playmaker as much as the Team is. And the fans knew one was coming.
Arizing strode back to the podium "With the 1st overall pick of the 2031 FFL draft, the New York Giants select Justin Blackmon, wide receiver, Oklahoma State." The crowd erupted.
Pick 1-1 WR Justin Blackmon, Oklahoma State, 5'11" 187 lbs.
Blackmon is fast and makes defenders miss. He runs a good route and can get down field. He is, also, a strong blocker. He is what the Giants were missing last season.
