    2013 Preview

    Key loss

DE Andre Carter to retirement. Andre was a key component on Miami's D-line racking up 61.5 sacks, 31 blocks and 162 hurries in his 8 seasons in Miami and will be sorely missed.

    Key FA additions or trades

SLB Dana Duhart via trade from Clev. Has yet to start a game and came with a cheap price and salary. He should start immediately and is an upgrade at SLB.

LT Norm Peterson Signed a huge 5yr 55.04M contract is now the 4th highest paid T in the league. At this price, that prob makes LT Jackie Lincoln expendable next season.

RB Derek Hewitt signed a 3yr 4.96m contract. In a already crowded backfield, he should give Arrington a run for his money boasting a 4.27avg and running for 8352yds and 59Td's in only 7 seasons.

SLB Boss Bailey If he doesn't move to WLB he will be playing behind SLB Duhart. 2 seasons ago he started his first full season and did have 100 tackles and 6 sacks, so the potential is there.

LCB Skip Middleton Undrafted Good punt return skills but not much else.

C Darren Blackwell Undrafted. Good RB and PB skills but if he stays at C I wouldn't expect to see much starting time behind 4th rd pick Wendell Beyer who gave up 0 sacks last year through 16 games.

    Offense

With 4 QB's on the roster, it's anyones guess who will be the starting QB. Dog killer Vick is still hanging around and was having an off year last year with 8 TD's and 11 picks before he got hurt and benched. JaMarcus Russell came in and did worse with 5td's and 11 picks and doesn't seem to be the answer Miami is looking for either. This will be a do or die position for Miami.

5 RB's on the roster makes for a crowded backfield. Arrington started last year but didn't even get over 1k yards and was held to a 3.96 avg. With the addition of Hewitt I would guess that we may be looking at 1-2 punch unless Hewitt walks away from camp as the clear front runner.

The receiving core got a big boost with the addition of 1st round pick WR Dan Snow. Prob the highest rated WR in the draft.

With almost 28m invested in the offensive line, one would expect great things from them this year. Last year they gave up 24 sacks tied for 10th fewest in the league.

    D-line

Shannon Darrow RDT.... WOW. You can't go wrong with this #1 pick. Some people questioned this pick at #2, but Shannon is easily one of the best picks of the top 10. And with the loss of Andre Carter will more than likely move to DE and make him the highest rated DE in the league. Excellent pick! But then again, his 2 DE's produced 6.5 sacks each... So where Darrow ends up on the line, only Miami knows.

LB's 3 new faces show up on the linebacker position and only Duhart and Bailey will have any true impact there.

DB's Miami gave up 3580yds through the air last year. 16th most in the league. While that doesn't seem alot, they also only had 41 defensed and 11int with a turnover margin of -6. Doesn't help that the QB pos is shaky keeping the def on the field more than they need to. Hopefully with the addition of Sparrow, that will create more opportunities for the DB's.

For Miami to reach the playoffs this year I think they have to win the division. There doesn't seem to be a clear front runner for the division this year, and depending on injuries and how well this team comes together, it wouldn't surprise me that they win it this year.

Miami has one of the youngest teams in the league with plenty of cap space to work with, this year and next.

The only thing they should address is extending FS James Sanders who goes into his last year. One thing that I was really surprised about was that Miami made no attempts in signing Charlie Frye who would have been an upgrade at the QB position

      2016 Preview

RB Arnie Hollerorth is as good as a RB as they come. He rushed for nearly 3000 yards the last two seasons. Don’t expect two much from QB Drew Henson. He doesn’t have a true playmaker in the passing game. The have a solid offense line that should open some wholes for Hollerorth. On defense their front seven is really good. DE Shannon Darrow is a man amongst boys. He has 21 sacks over the last two seasons. Getting 15 sacks is not out of the question. The need the Line Backer unit to really out play themselves this season. I think this team is good enough to make the playoffs. I just don’t think they have enough in the passing game do to so.
