    2063 Week 2 Discussion

Gg, FortressDoor. We spotted San Fran 14 points, as nothing seemed to go right for us in the first quarter. 5 penalties and no 1st downs on our first 4 drives. However, we grinded out rushing yards and key 3rd down conversions as the game went on. We held the 49ers offense to just 55 yards total after their 2nd drive, and picked off McNeil 3 times, while our defensive line harassed the hell out of him. Looks like we got another tough game coming up, as we face pass happy Houston.

What a brutal 4th quarter. Fumble, punt, fumble, game. That also includes a fumbled punt return. Turnovers resulted in great field position and points for the Steelers in a game we had won. The dice didn't like us this week.

Our secondary defended 10 passes, our running game powered for 171 yards on 37 carries and our QB was player of the game with 3 TD passes.
LA had 4 turnovers and PIT had 3, including a fumbled punt at 5:49 of the 3rd quarter that set you up at our 27 yard line.
If LA had scored a TD instead of a FG on that drive, the game might have been over.
At 13:25 of the 4th quarter, you fumbled and we took over at your 35...9 plays later Kearns threw a pick in the End Zone.
Then, at 3:27 of the 4th, you fumbled a punt and we took advantage of it, scoring on the next play on a 15 yard pass from Kearns to Crouse.
4 plays later, in the hurry up with 3 minutes left, a sack fumble gave us the ball again at your 25.
A TD was called back on a penalty and eventually we kicked a FG to make it 30-26.
    Every game has dice rolls.
The team that does a better job of taking advantage of them...usually ends up winning the game.

    GG Nygiants,

The Jets offense sputtered in the opening half recording less than 100 yards. We had 3 punts, turnover on downs and a missed FG on 5 possessions. However, Seth Baxter scored on a 84 kick off return as we trailed only 7 - 13. Our offense picked up the pace in the 2nd half as we coasted to a 34 - 16 victory to win the battle of New York.

GG NO. Stuck with our conservative attack and had a little success. Happy to be 2-0 even if we lack the firepower to compete with the big kids still.

GG Steel. Had a strong performance with our running game, breaking off some huge runs early to give us a lead. But then we asked McNeil to throw the ball a few times, and that quickly turned out to be the wrong move. Your defense just destroyed him, and its clear that he isn't an answer for us at qb. Best of luck for the rest of the season.

The Offense: outta sight! 550yds per game with a 99 QB rating, fixed my personnel so Hennessee wasn't being overworked, on pace for 8800yds passing!

The defense: shameful, getting run over, passed over, I'm not sure what to do about it, on pace for 0-16 season!!

    So, overall: not great

    GG Phili,

As good as our offense has been its large in part because of our defense. S Roderick Green is on pace for another great season with 2 pick 6's in two games, I'm so happy I just extended him to a 5 year deal. ILB Shane Fitzgerald leads the league with 3 int's and we lead the league in caused turnovers, generally speaking that helps win games. We will see how long we can perform at this level, we are still a young not so talented team, but the guys are playing hard and making plays.

Time to stay focused and on to KC. Good luck the rest of the season

And, for the record, your offense is turning over the ball a lot. Those yards come at a heavy price. The TOs for Miami, Oakland and Dallas I would attribute to dice rolls and will even out over the season. At this pace, Houston will break the FFL record of TOs from last year. And which team hold that record you may ask? Any surprise the answer is Houston?

Pass happy gimmicks do not work.

BTW, since I'm a data junkie, I did some quick statistical analysis. The other 31 teams in the FFL last year averaged 25 turnovers. Houston had 51. You cannot consistently win, especially vs. good teams, with a negative 2 to 1 TO margin.
