  • Giants 2052- Season Preview

    Overview

The 2052 Giants were led by MLB Nicholas Dresselhaus and RB Rueben Humphrey and finished the year at 7-8-1.
The Giants did just enough to finish first and was able to defeat the Atlanta Falcons in the wild card game but failed to get passed their nemesis the St Louis Rams.

    Coaching

    Drew Bachman
was retained as head coach as well as Offensive Coordinator CJ Spiller.

The Giants brought in new Coordinators, let by Assistant Coach Chris Batten and Chris Garboursian as the Defensive Coordinator.

    The Good

The strength of the Giants was their Passing Offense ranked 10th.

On the Defensive Side, the Rushing Defense was 10th

Unfortunately the Giants were unable to move the ball on the ground as their rushing offense was 24th and the Passing Defense was ranked 17th.
The Giants switched to a 4-3 defense with the hiring of Garbousian.

    Additions

Teddy Bridgewater QB from Los Angeles Saints was brought in to run the offense. He replaces Norman Gordon who left for KC.

    Subtractions
Randal Blanchard , after losing his starting job and being replaced by Bridgewater, Blanchard moved on to the Los Angeles Saints. Kind of swapping QBs.
Harold Han**** SS 7 year vet leaves the Giants to take over in Indiana. Han**** was number 1 all-time in interceptions in Giants history.
Rueben Humphrey RB 4th all time in rushing for the Giants, asked to be released and decided to sign with division rival Philadelphia Eagles for 34 million over 2 years.

    Draft Rating
Giants Scouting may have paid off as they Draft Review
    Rookies
League Scout liked what we did and gave us an A, just below Minnesota's A+. No rookies made the green page so no stars as of yet here.

    1-25
    Allen Parella Jr - SS

    School: Oklahoma
    Height: 6' 0” (Average)
    Weight: 205 lbs (Average)
Parella replaces Han**** as SS. Bg Run Stopping Safety who showed good safety coverage and provides a presence over the middle. As a plus, Parella also excelled in kick-off returns at Oklahoma.
    Rated - Good

    2-25 Roy Thomason - QB
    School: Oregon State
    Height: 6 2” (Average)
    Weight: 219 lbs (Average)
Bridgewater was brought in to lead this years version but the Giants are looking to the future. Giants have not invested in a QB during the current regime. Thomason makes the long pass . At 219 he stays in the pocket to make those timing passes.
    Rated - Average

    3-25 Kurt Copeland - CB
    School: Hawaii
    Height: 6' 1” (Above Average)
    Weight: 198 lbs (Above Average)
Copeland from Hawaii is a physical corner who excels in the Bump and Run. Targeted to play RCB in the Giants coverage scheme. He does everything a corner is supposed to have minus the endurance numbers. At best starting RCB, at worse Nickel Corner.
    Rated - Good

    4-25 Jamie Rayburn - RB
    School: Ohio State
    Height: 6' 0” (Above Average)
    Weight: 225 lbs (Above Average)
Rayburn from Ohio State, power back who excels in between the tackle. At 225 he has the size to move the pile. He is expected to be a work horse back who will be instrumental on short yardage.
    Rated - Average

    5-25 Drake Dewine - RB
    School: Mississippi
    Height: 5’ 10” (Below Average)
    Weight: 213 lbs (Below Average)
DeWine from Mississippi, shifty back who compliments Rayburn. Does a good job of making defenders miss. and he likes to get outside. Also has excelled on kickoffs so along with Parella we should have a strong Kick Return team.
    Rated - Average

    6-25 Vernon Bettle - WR
    School: Temple
    Height: 6' 2” (Above Average)
Weight: 198 lbs (Way Below Average)
Bettle from Temple is a rangy possession receiver who uses height to make catches. He slipped in the draft due to lack of crispness on his routes and a slight frame. His combine numbers showed that with some coaching, he may be a player down the line.
    Rated - Fair

    7-25 Abel Hardy - RT
    School: Nebraska
Height: 6' 6” (Way Above Average)
Weight: 321 lbs (Way Above Average)
Hardy from Nebraska is a Run Stopping Defensive Tackle who has the size to hold the middle. Very good against the run with exception PRS and see the action. Hardy with Husted should anchor the middle for a long time.
